Myanmar Coup: Protests continue against protesters in Yangon, five injured in shootout

 

Bagan is known as one of the major tourist spots in Myanmar. After the military coup, now large-scale protests have started here. According to the United Nations Office for Human Rights (UNHR), daily protests continue in many cities of Myanmar. 

Yangon: The news of firing on protesters opposing the military coup of Myanmar was aroused. The police opened fire in Bagan, the former capital of the country, in which several people were injured. This information has been revealed through eye-sighting and video told by eyewitnesses on social media. In Bagan, 5 people have been injured in this action by the security forces on the protesters. Bullets have also been recovered from the spot. 

Tourism Hub becomes Protest Point

Bagan is known as some of the finest tourist spots in the country, but large-scale protests are now beginning here against the military coup. According to the United Nations Human Rights Office, there are ongoing rounds of demonstrations in many cities of Myanmar. Here, the security forces are using force and retaliating by retaliating.

According to the latest information, 18 protesters were killed on the day of February 28 and 38 protesters were killed last Wednesday. The Independent Assistance Association for Political Prisoners claimed that more than 1,500 people had been arrested. According to local media reports, there were widespread protests in many places in the country, including Yangon and Mandalay, these two big cities on Sunday. During this time, the police also used tear gas shells, allegedly using force to control the protesters.

'Era of oppression'

It is noteworthy that since the coup, the people here are accusing them of repression. The Yangon police conducted a raid on Saturday night to nab the organizers and supporters of the demonstration. According to a post on Facebook by NLD MP Sithu Maung, ward president from Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy Party was found dead in a military hospital on Sunday morning.

Such suspicions are being raised on social media that 58-year-old Khin Maung Latt died during his custody. However, the cause of his death has not been officially disclosed immediately. Significantly, the country's army took over power by removing Aung San Suu Kyi's elected government on February 1. There are frequent demonstrations across the country against this coup.
